A large problem that happens around the U.S. is racial profiling, even in the most diverse places. A city like NYC is one of the most diverse in the world, has profiling. Many profiling issues come from the police. Specific ethnic groups are mainly targeted. Many consequences come out of this shown by the incarceration rate of the U.S., and it being the highest in the world. Over time, there have been many who have tried to better this, but the issue is still there. These people envision possibility for better in the world. To rid our nations of profiling, like the main character of my story Jerry. To see the beauty and diversity of cities like New York City.
I chose this topic, because I think that it is very important and relevant. With all the issues with the police departments all across the country, stopping and frisking ethnic people because of how they look or where they come from. This apparent in my story. I wrote about how Jerry, a 10 year old boy, realizes while on his trip to NYC, how the world can harmonize and thrive if we all work together. His imagination can take over, showing him new and bright cultures through wild adventures, from present and past, while seeing a possible future for everyone. He can take any form in his thoughts, learning the exotic beyond that are Earth's cultures. I feel as if it's important for everyone to open up and see the true beauty of cultures that are new to you. To see the wonders of diversity.
